Michelle and I had just pulled into the garage after I had performed a wedding. Our good friend, Kathy, was babysitting our six children. I opened the envelope the newlyweds had handed me and inside was a nice card and a hundred dollar bill. What a blessing!

Immediately I felt the Lord telling me to give that $100 bill to Kathy. The battle began in my heart and mind: Sure, Kathy could really use it, but I worked for that money! We could use that money too! In the end, I wanted to be obedient to the Lord's leading, so I gave the money to Kathy.

The next day at church, I pulled an envelope out of my mailbox. Inside was a check written to me in the amount of $110. I laughed as I thought of the $100 bill I had given away the day before.

Since it was a check, I knew who had written it. I thanked the person and asked her what the check was for and why it was such an unusual amount. The woman replied that the Lord had put on her heart to give me money and made it clear it was to be $110. She didn't know why.

But I did. You can never out give God!
